It’s time to head out to explore the architecture and history of Marathon County! You’ll discover the treasures only seen when you get off the highways and head into the communities along the county roads.
Join us on Saturday, September 26 for Tour de Marathon County 2026!
We have been working with Marathon City Heritage Center, St. Patrick’s in Halder, Stratford Area Historical Society, Spencer Area Historical Society, and Athens Historical Society to put together a one of a kind tour into our county.
We’ll board the bus at 11:45 am and leave by noon for our day of fun, including:
- Marathon City and Marathon City Heritage Center – explore the Heritage Center and take a walk in the historic downtown.
- St. Patrick’s Church in Halder – step inside to see and hear the history of this community centerpiece.
- Rozellville – join the celebration of 145 years of this community!
- Spencer – hear about their famous native son and see their historic downtown.
- Athens – explore their downtown filled with historic buildings and stories of the community once known as Black Creek Falls.
There will be plenty of surprises as we travel to each destination, as well! And a bag of goodies to enjoy along the way.
Tickets are $55 and can be purchased online. We have put the link in the comments below, as well as in the event page. Please, note that there is no additional ticketing fee. It does provide the opportunity to donate to Friends of Wausau Historic Landmarks and a place to donate to Zeffy, the ticketing system. Neither is required.
We look forward to seeing you and once again heading out to explore!
