Wausau Historical Architecture Tuesday – the old Coca-Cola Bottling building

It’s Tuesday – time for WHAT! By request, we head back down the avenue to the old Coca-Cola Bottling building at 1930 Grand Avenue.
This building was under construction by around 1948 and became the Coca-Cola plant by 1950. It is a brick building in the commercial style, with additions later added, including the front elevation seen on Grand Avenue. Driving around back allows a view of more of the original building
The plant serviced a four county area- Marathon, Lincoln, Taylor, and Clark. From about 1956-1972 it was managed by Jerry Nelson. In 1953 the plant was employed 16 people and had a fleet of 5 delivery trucks.
In about 1998 the building became Grand Avenue Antiques and Auction House. In addition to a wide selection of antiques, auctions were held in the large back area on a regular basis. (Anyone bid and win something amazing?)
In February 2006 the State College of Beauty Culture had moved across town to become the current business.
