It’s May 2nd, and it’s still Historic Preservation Month! Yesterday we posted what happened in Wausau this past year with historic preservation, and today we would like to highlight some of our friends around the county and what they have been up to.
The Stratford Area Historical Society continues their efforts to preserve their well house built in 1920. The well house sits on Larch Street in downtown and was the first hand dug well to provide water to the town. Looks like the roof, roof structure, and facia have been fixed. This year they are looking to raise funds to tuckpoint the brickwork and replace bricks as needed. You can donate to the SAHS and this effort at the link below.
Ringle is set to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of their community! To get things started they are offering T-shirts designed just for this special occasion. You can order one for yourself at the link in below.
We understand that the Mosinee Area Historical Society has acquired the old Ranger building and is currently working on updates to allow for exhibits and meetings. It’s located just off of downtown on Ranger Street (of course!)
The Wittenberg Area Historical Society & Museum is busy doing the finishing work in their new building! Located right downtown the building is being fitted out to provide room for exhibits and space for research activities. In addition, they recently published a book all about Bevent, and are now researching for a new publication about the town of Galloway. They are on the hunt for more Galloway information- check their Facebook to see how you can help.

They are about to start the 2026 campaign to raise funds to complete the preservation of the Historic Well House! Their goal is $8,000 to complete the tuck pointing, brick replacement, and other exterior/interior items.
