The Friends of Wausau Historic Landmarks presents their second Architecture Amble of the season on Thursday, July 30, 2026. The walking tour begins at the upper parking lot of Riverside Park (100 Sherman Street, Wausau) at 6 pm and will explore the Third Avenue Neighborhood between Thomas Street and Stewart Avenue.
The Third Avenue Neighborhood’s architecture and history reveal a thriving community filled with homes, businesses, and industry. This tour includes many stories and names that are still familiar, such as Kohlman’s and Lee’s, Beasman’s, The Red Apple, and Grace UCC. But, it also includes those that are beginning to fade into the past, like Bill’s Fine Foods, Pope’s Hobbyland,
Irving School, MacDonald Pool, and Porter Tannery.
Remember to dress for the weather, and be sure to wear good walking shoes as there will be some uneven surfaces.
The event is free and open to all ages, and no reservations are required. Free will donations are always appreciated.
