A Virtual Tour of Wausau’s Local & National Landmarks

The Friends of Wausau Historic Landmarks begins their winter lecture series with a virtual tour of Wausau’s designated local, state, and national landmarks. The presentation is set for Wednesday, November 11 at 6 pm at the Marathon County Public Library Wausau location.
Did you know Wausau has five designated historic districts and more than 30 locally designated landmarks? And more than a dozen more registered as national landmarks? This presentation will include a historic overview of each location and why it was chosen to become a landmark. These sites include the Charles Manson House designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, Employers Mutual Headquarters/City Hall, Saint Stephens Church, The Exhibition Building at Marathon Park, the walls and entrance of Athletic Park, and Wausau’s newest landmark – Memorial Bridge.
The presentation will also include an overview of the landmarking process, both locally and nationally, from nomination to designation. Some of the benefits of becoming a landmark will also be explored.
This presentation is free and open to all. No reservations are required.
This presentation is not sponsored by the Marathon County Public Library.
